“Hitchcock” Trailer: The Struggles of a Psycho

By Craig Hubert | “Hitchcock,” one of two films focusing on the eponymous director this year, released its full theatrical trailer today, a few weeks before its premiere at the AFI Festival. Directed by Sacha Gervasi (“Anvil! The Story of Anvil”), the film stars Anthony Hopkins as the rotund filmmaker as he struggles to get “Psycho” off the ground. As opposed to “The Girl,” HBO’s crack at the master of suspense, “Hitchcock” seems to lean heavily on the relationship between the director and his wife, Alma Reville (played by Helen Mirren), who collaborated on many of his projects, though she received little, if any, credit for their success. The cast is rounded out by Scarlet Johansson as Janet Leigh (not even attempting an accent, oddly), Jessica Biel as Vera Miles, and James D’Arcy as Anthony Perkins. The trailer promises comedy and drama in equal measure, with a dollop of backstage politics. Hollywood loves saluting their own, so expect this to pop up all over the place come awards season. Watch the trailer below, then go home and actually watch a Hitchcock movie:
